Lying, sitting or all-fours position?

The study examined four different birthing positions commonly chosen by women: lying on their back, all-fours position, sitting upright, and squatting. Traditionally, lying on the back has been the most common position used in hospitals, but recent studies suggest it may impede labor progress and decrease satisfaction levels. The all-fours position is believed to alleviate back pain and aid in the baby’s descent, but there is limited research on its impact on satisfaction. Sitting upright allows for gravity utilization and a sense of control, but more research is needed on its correlation with satisfaction. Squatting, known for easier delivery and reduced episiotomies, requires further understanding of its satisfaction improvements. In conclusion, further research is essential to fully understand the impact of final birthing positions on women’s satisfaction and enhance maternity care worldwide.
